How to unlock Your Vehicle

Fortunately, there are some simple steps you can follow to replace your Volvo key fob battery on your own. First, locate a clear work surface to perform the procedure. Set out all the tools that you'll need. Locate the battery hatch and make sure that it is set to "open." Use a flathead screwdriver, coin or a similar tool to make the hatch open. Then, carefully remove the battery out of its socket by lifting up on the side closest to the key-ring loop. Make sure that you use rubber gloves to avoid damaging the contacts or the clips.

Place the new battery in the socket once the old one was removed. Make sure that the positive side of the battery is facing upwards, and that all clips are in place. Then, slide the cover back down and towards the key-ring loop section until it loosens and slides off. Uncover the cover and reveal the hidden mechanical key blade. It can be used to unlock your car by the driver's side doors when the battery of your key fob is dead or lost volvo key fob.

How to Start Your Vehicle

The unlock button can also be used to open the windows on the hot days or to let fresh air in before climbing behind the wheel. If you're in the market for more, the key fob can also be used to turn on the ERS system, which will begin the vehicle's climate control system and allow it to cool or warm it to the desired temperature settings when the vehicle is stationary.

How do I replace the battery?

If your key fob isn't locking or unlocking your car as it used to then it's time to replace the battery. The battery can be replaced with a flathead screwdriver, plastic pry bar or other small tools. First look for volvo Key programming the small hole where the backup/emergency metal ignition key used to be. Place the blade of a screwdriver, or prybar tool into the slot and gently push the rear of the fob open. Once the fob is opened then locate the CR2032 3V battery and remove it. Note: Some older Volvos have a different battery, the CR2025. CR2025 batteries have the thickness of 7/10ths one millimeter lower than a CR2032, so you'll need to be extra cautious when replacing your battery.
