iRobot Combo Review

Combo is iRobot's first mop-and-vacuum robot, and it's also the company's best-looking. The top piece of brushed aluminum and iRobot logo are more elegant than the blaring designs of competitors.

The iRobot Home application is used to help you set up and guide your robot. The app collects data on usage and maps of your home including furniture and obstructions. Maps and image data are only shared with iRobot when you sign up.

It's a mop

The Combo irobot, a very smart mopping robot, has all the capabilities of the fantastic roomba irobot J7+ and adds a reservoir of water onboard, a small pad for mopping and a robotic arm which can lift and lower the pad. It can do a lot of work in 111 minutes before running out of juice and automatically returning to its base station for recharge.

It's even able to clean up ketchup and wine that has spilled but I'd suggest sending it after any kind of liquid with a high sugar content.

It's a vacuum

It's one of the more attractive robot vacuums. The top piece is smooth and doesn't show dirt or fingerprints as easily as some competitors. The small water tank and dustbin of this vacuum are simple to open, but they're not the biggest. The Combo j7+ has all the features you'd expect from iRobot. This includes map and obstacle avoidance maps that operate effectively and swiftly. But it's the mopping arm that makes this a standout model in its class. The mop pad is kept on top of the robot vacuum. However, when it spots a surface that needs mopping the pad is moved under and behind the robot vacuum. This is a major improvement from other robot vacuums that require you to manually remove the mop pad in order to mop hard floors and carpets, or even turn the whole machine off to mop.

It's an electric charging station

When you're ready to charge your Combo irobot, just place it on the charging station and align its metal contacts to the ones on the base. The charging station is easy to set up and performs well. During my tests it took the robot just a few minutes to charge and then make an audible sound when it was finished.
