If you're on a tight budget and don't want a stroller that can double up as a car seat carrier, the Babyzen Yoyo is a good choice. It has a simple, one-step foot brake that's flip-flop user-friendly.

It's easy to push and it is solid when walking along woodland paths and kerbs. It's also a breeze to fold.

1. Babyzen YOYO2

The Babyzen YOYO2 has earned itself a reputation as the ultimate lightweight buggy for city dwellers and jet-setters alike, thanks to its super nimble manoeuvrability and foldable design that can be tucked away in aeroplane overhead luggage. The latest version comes with independent suspension on all four wheels, made of Hytrel elastomer that allows it to perfectly navigate across all types of surfaces and terrain'.

The bent fabric bassinet, base YOYO2 and 6months of colour pack are combined to create a sleek pushchair that has a soft elegant look. The frame itself weighs just under a kilo and is so light you can lift it directly from the box (and do so one-handed).

It's also easy to add or remove adaptors or attachments - the hood, for instance, snaps on to the YOYO2 using reassuring clicks and is machine washable at 30deg to prevent stains from smushed rice cakes and half-dissolved carrot puffs. The Newborn Pack and bassinet can be used from birth as an infant stroller. It could also be converted into a stroller at 6 months with the YOYO connect to additional chassis.

2. Evenflo Pivot Xplore

The Evenflo Pivot Xplore is a great choice for parents who want a versatile stroller wagon. It transforms from a stroller into a wagon just by flipping the handle, so parents can pick the mode they prefer for their trip. The wagon can accommodate one or two children from 6 months old to 5 years, and it comes with a spacious storage basket that can accommodate all of your on-the-go needs.

The Xplore comes with two canopy options that are able to rotate from front to back, ensuring adequate sun protection for the entire family. It has a smaller footwell than other wagons. This may not be suitable for long trips or naps.

The frame of the Xplore wagon feels solid and sturdy but it does not flex as much as other wagons we have tried. It is also more difficult to fold than many of the competition and does not lock tightly when folded. It is easy to maneuver however, and it can fit through narrow 28-inch doors.

3. Delta Children LX Side-by-Side

This bare-bones double stroller from Delta Children is an excellent option for parents seeking an affordable, second-hand travel stroller. It scored highly in our Strollers & Multiples Test for weight and folded dimensions. This means it's lightweight and compact when folded and easy to carry and put in a trunk of a car. It also has a multi-position reclining seat and a parent cup holder. Other key features include two large storage bags that hang from the ceiling and 360-degree front wheels that absorb shock.

In our push and turn test, it did better than the majority of other cheap strollers we tested, but it's still not the most comfortable to maneuver on uneven terrain or through narrow doors. Its sunshades are among the smallest we tested, offering only direct overhead coverage, and no windows that peek out. The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 has a much larger canopy.

The Delta took us just under 3 minutes to put together with an average manual and no components required tools. But, it's lacking some essential features that we think you should consider non-negotiable in a double stroller like a large basket and reclining seats with adjustable leg rests.

4. Maxi-Cosi Zelia 2-in-1

The Zelia is Maxi-Cosi’s newest pushchair and is marketed as a travel system for urban use. It can be used from birth until 3.5-years-old. The carrycot and seat can be easily converted in just a few clicks. It can also be used with Maxi Cosi capsule car seats and comes with the lightweight Mico 30 infant car seat, a stay-incar base, and a reversible car.

It is really easy to maneuver, and the one-hand reclining of the seat as well as the massive shopping basket make it simple for parent-tots to get the child in and out of the seat quickly. This compact pushchair can handle every day bumps and doors effortlessly.

The front wheels are able to be locked in a forward position or rotate. This is helpful in rough terrain. We let the front wheels to swivel during our walk on an uneven path. It was able to handle this well, although it seemed to be a bit more bumpy.

5. Baby Jogger City Tour 2,

Baby Jogger is most famous for its 3-wheeled, all-terrain, strollers that jog. But they also manufacture a vast range of 4-wheeler pushchairs. City Tour 2 is their most loved model. It folds easily and fits into the boot of a car even with an attached carrycot.

It's heavier than other strollers we've tested, but because it has rubber composite wheels it feels solid and well-made. It's a breeze to maneuver across all kinds of terrain, and it's also a breeze to lift even with two children and shopping bags.

The carrycot and seat both have hoods that can be pulled down to reveal sun canopy extensions that are UV50+. They are showerproof and sturdy unlike other prams' hoods which get turned back into toddlers faces.

It's not a lot of storage space, but it comes with a large, deep basket to accommodate a changing bag or a large amount of groceries. It can also be linked with the Baby Jogger infant car seat to create a travel system for babies up to 20 pounds (car seat and adapters sold separately). The City Tour 2 is a good choice if you want to take a stroller with you on the move.

6. Nuna Mixx Next

Nuna Mixx was a stroller that won the hearts of a lot of parents when it first appeared. It is an aluminium-framed stroller that can be used from the infant's first days until. It has a number of distinctive features like the ability to flip the seat between parent and the world, a large UPF 50+ canopy, an eye shade that flips out as well as a large basket and adjustable handlebar.

The chassis has an integrated suspension system that helps reduce the impact of bumpy terrain. The wheels are made from tough foam and minimise punctures. Our test driver found it easy to push and was able to manoeuvre it through narrow streets without difficulty.

It folds in just four steps, and locks automatically without fuss. It can also be rolled and stood up for easier transport down the stairs, or in the boot of the car. It also comes with a travel system ready with the option to include a car seat or carrycot with the adaptors included. The brakes have one action and are colour coded. They also can be used with flip-flops.

7. Babyzen Duet

This budget pushchair is easy to operate and features an excellent dual suspension. It folds using just one hand, and comes with a convenient carrying strap. It's also lightweight and robust. The seat is reclined in various positions. It also has a built-in double-breathable mattress that can be used from birth.

The canopy/seat comes with two extra-large fixed or flip-out sun visors. Both are UPF50+. The toggle closure isn't ideal since it's not as silent as Velcro, and can wake up napping babies.

The Duet is a side-by-side stroller and can be set up to accommodate twins or other siblings (up to 22kg maximum per seat). It is compatible with two infant car seats and can be used with carrycots. In twin mode the seats can face each other or rotate around to face the parents, theoretically cutting down on sibling disputes over who should sit with dad and mom. It comes with a large gear tray, bottle holder, snack trays and the ability to change mats. It also comes with a compact stand fold and automatic frame lock.

8. Baby Jogger Urban Glide 2

The Thule Urban Glide 2 is a jogger designed for parents who love to be active. It's among the lightest running strollers you can buy for your child and offers excellent safety features such as a 5-point harness as well as a safety wrist strap. It also comes with an innovative twist hand brake that's distinct from the lever-type that is found on other models.

The seat is comfortable and offers a large area to sit in, however the depth of the seat is lower than other joggers we've tested (it's about 10"). The storage bin is equipped with a zippered cover to help keep things secure. It can hold up to 10 pounds, which is enough for most diaper bags.

The Urban Glide 2 isn't compatible with bassinets or infant car seats as it comes, but you can use it right from the start by purchasing adapters to most seats from brands like BOB, Graco, Combi, Evenflo, Britax, and UPPAbaby. It's easy to fold and put together in 5-10 minutes without any tools. The instruction manual is easy to read and contains a variety of languages.
