Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs)

The Register of Exercise Professionals is an UK scheme for fitness instructors and trainers. It recognises industry-based qualifications and also provides insurance for public liability and requires members to adhere to an industry-specific code of practice.

Are REPs certificates recognized internationally?

The Register of Exercise Professionals was an independent public registry that operated under a membership system. Although REPs has ceased operations in the UK but they do have global reach through ICREPs which connects international registers and fitness professionals. If you are an REPs-registered personal trainer in the UK then you could work as a personal training in other ICREPs nations like Australia. Ireland, Poland, South Africa, and UAE.

It is important to remember however that REPs cannot guarantee the employment of fitness professionals or insurance coverage. REPs is an association for industry and not a governing authority is a voluntary organization. Internationally recognized certification bodies, such as ACSM, NSCA ISSA NASM and ACE are not associated with REPs. They will never offer employment or insurance coverage for their fitness professionals.
