This is a significant improvement over the previous model which relied on the use of a sensor-driven pseudorandom cover to bounce around the room and clean the entire area three times at various angles.

The Roomba 980 performed well in our tests on both carpets and hard floors. It scored very well on low-pile carpet and robot Vacuum deals also on mid-pile. It did a fair job of picking up pet hair, but it was struggling with extremely thick and long pet fur that was stuck together.

The Roomba 980 is still one of the best robot vacuum mop combo performing robots on our list despite the minor drawbacks. It's also not as expensive as top-of the-line models. It comes with many of the features you would expect from a top model, but it doesn't have all the fancy apps and smart home integrations you'll see in other top models.

The iRobot Roomba is easy to set up and start up and running immediately. After taking off the yellow bin insert and battery pull tab from the undercarriage, you simply plug it into the wall socket or one of its Home Base docking stations, hit the "Clean button" and let it job. It will return to its dock when its battery is out or it's stuffed with debris, and it also has indicators on the top of the device to indicate that the bin is full, it's time to recharge or if its Wi-Fi signal is not working.
