WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item upgrades by 3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for the latter due to the need to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. However, the item upgrader kit used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new equipment. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items which can be used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They are purchased by players from item level upgrade (Recommended Looking at) upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which will display an item's preview at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item upgrader kit and the current level of the item as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.

In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items come from another set of gear.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.

Crests

When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a couple of options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the more complex one may require as many as 20 crests depending on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through content at the appropriate level. This could be done by engaging in outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or item Level Upgrade Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it brings some changes to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, item Level upgrade Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. For instance, it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the best equipment you have, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to make. This is particularly true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to avail the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
