With powerful hardware and sensors, robots like the Roomba can collect a lot of data. Their privacy policies cover the fact that other people are viewing the data.

A policy for the vacuum and mop combination Combo J9+, for example says that human viewers are watching images of carpets or other obstacles. These images are used to improve the algorithm used by the device to avoid obstacles.

Roomba i3 EVO

The i3 EVO is the best robot vacuum for floors with no carpet It excels at picking up small debris and crumbs that are left on floors. It is also good in picking up pet hair. However, it is unable to remove large clumps of carpeting. Its biggest drawback is the high recurring cost.

The Roomba i3 EVO is similar to the i1 but comes with one major upgrade imprint smart mapping. This technology lets the robot keep track of specific rooms in your home and clean them more efficiently. Rooms can be labeled using the i3 EVO buttons or set virtual boundaries with the irobot App to stop the robot from cleaning places you don't want. The i3 EVO has the largest dustbin of all the robots we evaluated at 0.5 Liters.

Like most robots The i3 EVO also requires regular maintenance to ensure that it functions properly. iRobot recommends cleaning the brushes at least once a week if you own pets. To do this, flip the robot over and press the green button that lets the brushes go. Then, you can pull out the brushes and gently wipe them down with the microfiber cloth. It is also recommended to clean the six sensors that span the bottom of the robotic.

Another thing to keep in mind when purchasing a new Roomba is that the manufacturer's filters and brushes need to be replaced regularly. You can monitor the status of these components by checking the Product Health tab in the Irobot app. The i3 EVO's filters should be replaced every two months and the brushes every six to 12 months.

iRobot's exclusive Dirt Detect Technology uses sensors to identify areas that are dirty and boost suction power in those zones. This feature is particularly useful in homes with a lot of furniture as it allows the robot avoid getting stuck beneath objects and ensures that all surfaces are kept clean. The i3 EVO also works with Alexa and allows you to control it using voice commands. It doesn't have the same features for avoiding obstacles that other models have like the i8+, j7+, and s9+.

Roomba 694

The Roomba 694 robot vacuum is a great entry-level robot. It is small enough to fit under furniture and is thorough in its cleaning. It is great on unfinished flooring and picks up pet hair well (though not as effectively as more expensive models). It is not fully automated and is not compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant.

The 694 is powered by a user-replaceable lithium-ion battery that can take about two hours to fully charge when the bot is docked at Home Base. Once charged, it can continue where it left off during the last cleaning session, or begin another. It also comes with an infrared sensor as well as an RCON sensor that keep the robot from stepping on steps, which is a nice feature to have if you reside in a multi-story house.

This Roomba features a premium style and is available in black, white, and red. Its round ninja-like shape is accentuated by the matte black plastic around the sides and an iRobot logo on the top. A large button with a green text that reads "Clean" sits in the center, while spot cleaning and home buttons form an elongated ring around it. A light at the top of the button shows status and battery levels: a green outline means it has sufficient power, and a red one indicates it's at a low level or on the charger.

While the Roomba 694 doesn't have a self-emptying feature like the more expensive models however, it does a great job of emptying its own dustbin every time it goes back to Home Base. The bin can hold about 60 days worth of trash. It's simple to empty it manually. Just press the release button, pull it out and dump it into the garbage.

The iRobot App is required to use the 694. It lets you modify cleaning schedules and track the record of previous cleaning sessions. You can also design virtual boundary markers to allow the robot to avoid certain areas in your home and plan cleanings in advance. The app will suggest additional cleanings when pollen season is in full swing, or when you have pets that shed lots of sheds.

Roomba 980

The 980, one of iRobot’s modern robots, is controlled through an official app for iPhone or Android. The app connects it with your home’s WiFi. The 980 is able to be controlled from any location no matter if you're in the middle of town, down the street or some thousand miles away.

You can also do cool things with the app like schedule multiple cleaning sessions throughout the day and change settings, such as what surface to focus on at each session. You can also set it to automatically return to the charging station after it is full. This feature will be especially useful if the 980 is often left to clean going to work.

The 980, as with other Roomba models in the past, uses a set of sensors to navigate your home. The iAdapt 2.0 navigational system tracks your home as you move, recognizing distinct features and creating a map based on pictures which help the robot navigate more efficiently. This lets the 980 skip areas it has already cleaned, and it's a lot smarter in avoiding hitting furniture and other obstacles.

The 980 is also equipped with a variety of the latest cleaning sensors. The two multi-surface brushes are designed to pick up large debris and dirt, and the smart Power Boost feature increases the vacuuming power when the robot is cleaning carpets. The robot can be turned on by using the remote control, or via voice commands, thanks to the integration with Google Assistant.

The 980 isn't cheap, however, it is worth the investment because it does an excellent job of picking up dust and other debris. The new battery technology will last for longer in cleaning sessions than prior versions and the app makes it simple to schedule a specific time for a cleaning session. The only thing not right with the 980 is that it does not come with an extra battery. If your battery fails it will be necessary to order one online.

Roomba 960

It can be started with a button on the robot, through the app, or by using voice commands through Alexa and Google Assistant. It can be scheduled to clean at a specific time.

The 960 is suitable for floors that are carpeted or bare. Its iAdapt sensors adjust to the surface and its dual rubber brushes combine to remove pet hair and not get tangled. It also includes a bin sensor that warns users when the bin is getting close to being full. It utilizes the IRobot Roomba I7: Smart Mapping Robot Vacuum Home App to control the robot and set up cleaning schedules.

Its navigation is flawless, and it can navigate a single-story house with carpeted and unfinished floors. It was able, during our tests to return to the docking station when the cleaning cycle was completed. Its mapping and dirt-detection capabilities are also impressive. It can remember the pattern and spot debris on the floor. It can even get under and around many obstacles, like table legs and chair seats.

The disadvantage of the 960 is that it does not have the carpet boost technology found on the 980. Also, its carpet cleaning performance isn't quite as good as the standards that other models offer in the series. It is still a good choice for most homes and comes at a reasonable price.

The 960, just like all robot vacuums, will require maintenance parts at some point. The iRobot App keeps track of how often you should replace your dust bin, filter and spinning brush. In general you can expect to spend around $35 per year on these replacements. You can purchase replacement parts directly from irobot that vacuums and mops or through third-party sellers.
