Replacement Handles For Windows

Window handles are one of the most frequently used elements of double glazing window handle-glazed windows. They can wear down over time and get rusty or worn out.

You'll need to know your current handle's spindle length and its fixings to replace it. The best way to do this is by looking at the base of your old handle.

Handle

Over time, uPVC window handles and locks may be damaged by wear and tear, or even deliberate damage. This could mean that the lock or handle becomes difficult to open or close, or it's not locked in any way. If this happens, it could be tempting to replace the entire window unit, but this isn't always the case. In most cases an upgrade to the handle or lock is all that's needed.

The most commonly used type of uPVC window handle is the espagnolette. It has a spindle that extends from the handle and slots into a gearbox which operates the multipoint locking mechanism within the window. It is crucial to match the right handle and lock to your windows in order to ensure that they work properly, which is why we carry a broad selection of replacement handles for all types of uPVC windows.

When replacing a uPVC window handle it is an ideal idea to use screw cover caps in order to secure the screws and protect them from corrosion. You can also make use of a spacer, washer or other sealant to create an even tighter fit. A screw cap that is in place will also stop debris and water from getting into the handle and damaging the handle.

After you have removed the handle from the window, it's an ideal idea to clean the spindle and the threaded part of the bolt. This will ensure that the handle is fitted and functions properly. It will also keep dirt out of the multipoint lock.

A squeaky hinge could be an indication that hinges are wearing out, which is typically due to the rubbing of metal against. A small drop of lubricant can help, however should the noise continue to be heard, it is likely that the hinges require replacement.

This is because plumb windows are able to avoid optional binding. The operating sash is aligned with the frame so that the window will be able to open and close in a proper manner. You can also determine the length of your spindle on your current handle to determine the size of the replacement.

The kind of window handle you own will determine which kind of crank mechanism is required for your casement or awning windows. Espag handles have a brain spindle in the back that is connected to the frame of the window and drives the mechanism. Cockspur handles are fitted with pegs that are held in their position by three or four screws that are fitted in the sash as well as the frame.
